informational signs

How can the Ride with Respect message reach a great number of visitors to public land? We do not have the means to personally contact each individual. The most practical solution is through placing informative signs at key locations, such as trailheads, where visitors are most likely to stop and read.

For instance, on the Sovereign Trail System, we placed 2x5foot trailhead signs at four staging areas. Topics include an explanation of trail-designations, preserving trail width, etiquette for encountering other trail users, and avoiding cryptobiotic soil. To reach people that wouldn't bother reading the text, we created a cartoon which summarizes the key points. A trail map completes these signs.
